Erratic column selection on scroll out of ScalePanel

      Description

      Drag right and out of ScalePanel triggers alignment scrolling while selecting added columns. Sometimes the column selection fails to reach the end, even if the scroll (and the region highlighted in the alignment panel) does.
      Can also be seen in 2.8. Behaviour is erratic, suggesting a thread timing issue.
