Handles to adjust ID panel width or annotation panel height can be dragged out of the Alignment window

The handles that allow a mouse drag to adjust the width of the ID panel or the height of the Annotation panel can be dragged out of the right hand side, or top, of the alignment window. This leaves them somewhere they can't be re-grabbed so it's essentially irreversible for that alignment window.
