Description
When opening 2.11.2.7 jalview, with the exampleFile.jvp set to open, and with the Java Console already set to open (SHOW_JAVA_CONSOLE=true in .jalview_properties), nearly always causes Jalview to hang.
For some reason this seems to have become more frequent (11 out of 12 launches) in the last week or so. Setting SHOW_JAVA_CONSOLE=false seems to make this go away completely.
VisualVM show a number of things wanting the AWTThread: BlogReader, SplashScreen, AlignFile (from the opening file), Java Console, something else less determinable.
We have tried this with Metal LaF instead of FlatLaF -- same observation;
newer intel/aarch64 JVM -- same observation;
Java 11 v Java 8 -- same observation;
Release v develop branch -- same observation.
This has not been tested extensively on non-Sonoma non-macOS environments (yet), but this is clearly a problem even if not observed on them.
