Return null from getRootDatasetSequence if there is no dataset sequence

The current implementation returns _this_ sequence if it does not have an associated dataset sequence. A null value may be preferred to indicate that the sequence does not have the dataset sequence.

Is it okay to return the sequence itself if there is no dataset?
