Sequences copied to clipboard from within Jalview cannot be pasted via the desktop's popup menu to a new alignment window

Open an alignment, select a region and copy it to the clipboard.
Right click on the desktop background and select the 'Paste to new alignment'. This will most likely fail, or at least not have the sequences you just copied.

The desktop's paste function should reuse the same logic as the alignment window's paste function.
