selections with visual feedback via contact matrix annotation

1. Allow column selections via mouse / keyboard for contact matrices:
- Hold shift and click drag to select columns corresponding to contact coordinates.
- Hold Ctrl to clear column selections corresponding to coordinates.
2. Show selected columns as rubberbanded regions on contact matrix.
- this is trickier, since involves compositing the current column selection with the pre-rendered contact matrix.
