Description
Jalview 2.11.2.0 includes a launcher script for command line use (in fact several for different operating systems).
These are found in JALVIEW_DIR/bin
jalview.sh (Linux and macOS)
jalview.bat (Windows)
jalview.ps1 (Windows, also Linux and macOS if you install powershell 6)
The Linux installer wizard gives the option of creating a symbolic link in your PATH to jalview.sh.
The Windows installer wizard gives the option of putting JALVIEW_DIR\bin in your %PATH%.
macOS does not have an installer wizard. It has a link as
/Applications/Jalview.app/Contents/MacOS/jalview
The user might not choose the option at installation time.
Jalview desktop application should have a facility (e.g. Tools -> Install command line launcher script) to allow the user to add these scripts to their PATH (symbolic link or otherwise) after installation.
