      Description

      Noticed on 'JS-applet' branch while inspecting heap dumps, and on running FreeUpMemoryTest: over 100MB of retained heap, expect less than 35MB.
      Need to track down any unnecessarily retained object references and ensure they are nulled - see related issues.
