Alignment sorter state should be per viewport

AlignmentSorter is a singleton but has fields holding state, e.g. whether last sort was forwards or backwards, allowing a repeat sort to reverse ordering. As per TODO comments in the class Javadoc, this only works properly if each viewport has a distinct instance.
