Description
A native app made available via standard OS-specific application distribution channels (App Store, Windows Apps, Deb packages, etc) that enables the latest version of Jalview to be launched with optimised memory settings.
Initial requirements:
Essential: Install once. Works forever.
- No issues with ‘out of date’ certificates (ideally)
Over the air update (latest update channel)
Switch between release and dev. Builds (and specific versions)
Configuration management
* Memory autoconfigured based on platform, current JRE version & RAM available
* Isolated java runtime (that is also compatible with Java 10+ distribution models)
* Script and Plugin Directories
* Profiles (e.g. command line vs interactive settings)
Future: Also provide foundation for ‘Jalview as server’
* Web browser ‘Helper’ application
* Jupyter component
