Too wide a region can be rendered if hidden columns present

Fetch the example Ensembl sequence (introns are hidden by default).
The alignment can be scrolled freely.
Reveal all hidden columns. Scrolling still performs fine.
Hide some columns at the right-hand (3') end. Scrolling almost freezes (especially at the 5' end).
