By complete chance, the BioJS-Templates github repository is not serving this URL:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jalview/exporter-templates/master/biojs/package.json
This revealed a couple of problems. Jalview seemed to hang whilst waiting for the above URL to return data (not tried to explore this further), but after the error, attempting to export as BioJS fails.
Jalview should deal gracefully with external service errors - and in the case of BioJS Export, the desktop should be able to function with no network access at all (ie BioJS templates obtained from local classpath or user specified resource).
