Description
Jalview's annotation panel in v2.8 and earlier presents the user with a vertically scrollable view onto an image buffer containing all the annotation displayed on the alignment. This means that when large alignment annotation datasets are displayed, Jalview has to create a large image buffer, and if it fails, a dialog box is shown informing the user they should restart Jalview with more memory.
A new, data size independent rendering strategy is needed for the annotation panel.
